The goal of the Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League is to give others who loved the game but could not play, an opportunity to play Canada’s National Winter Sport in a new way. Organised ball hockey is an ever growing sport, being played year round in major cities all across the world. The Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League is proud to be associated with the Ontario Ball Hockey Federation, the Canadian Ball Hockey Association, and the International Street & Ball Hockey Federation.
We offer multiple divisions with various levels of experience and competition.
The GSBHL has a number of volunteers and coaches who help make the league a great success!
EXERCISE / SOCIAL
Our sport is not only tons of fun, it also provides an excellent source of exercise and cardio.
Ball hockey is a very strategic sport. Develop your personal growth as well as a team game.
Every season, the Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League awards the Berk Keaney Sr. Memorial Trophy to the champion of the Men's division. The champion represents the GSBHL at the Ontario Ball Hockey Federation Provincial Championship. Additionally, the league awards the D.J. Hancock Memorial Trophy to the champion of the Men's Consolation division.
The Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League was created in October 2009 by a Sudburian who was tired of the waiting lists and unavailable ice for traditional hockey. After two successful seasons, the league was temporarily shut down after the 2011 season due to a play location issue but a new team of executives assumed the league and rebooted again the GSBHL for the 2016 season.
