Return to Play Tournament Postponed

Written by Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League

Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Sudbury, the City of Greater Sudbury has delayed the re-opening of sports facilities for booking by user groups. As a result, the GSBHL has postponed the Return to Play tournament, originally scheduled for the August 14th weekend.

These postponements are a precautionary measure in order to fully understand the impact of the current surge in COVID-19 cases before continuing municipal Stage 3 openings.

The city will work closely with Public Health Sudbury & Districts to monitor developments over the next two weeks. Based on the results, these facilities could open the week of August 10. An update will be provided prior to that date.

A new date will be determined, as soon as the city and public health officials deem it safe to proceed.

GSBHL Cancels 2020 Season

Written by Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League

It is with heavy hearts to announce that the 2020 Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League Season has officially been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the league remained optimistic that a season could occur this summer, the current restrictions and uncertain return date surpassed our deadline to complete a season.

In the event that public health officials deem it safe to play this summer, we will announce a tournament to declare our 2020 Berk Keaney and D.J Hancock Memorial Cup Champions.
